Countryside

In the countryside…

In France we say “a la Campagne.” The great French post-impressionist painter Henri Rousseau once noted that “when I go out in the countryside and see the sun and the green and everything flowering, I say to myself: yes indeed, all that belongs to me.”

I live in the countryside outside of New York City and being surrounded by nature is cleansing, calming and uplifting all at once. In designing a country house, I endeavor to bring as much of the outdoors inside as possible to create a calming environment balanced by comfort, beauty and nature.
